  • We offer a thorough 2 hour long initial visit.
  • Hour long prenatal visits.
  • Appointments every 4 weeks until 28 weeks gestation, every 2 weeks between 28 and 36 weeks, and then weekly between 36 weeks and birth.
  • Complete in-office lab work.
  • Ultrasounds provided by your choice of facility.
  • The midwives are available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
  • We collaborate with and refer to other practitioners as appropriate.
  • We have an in-house sonographer and childbirth education!

Labor & birth

We attend births in a variety of settings!  While the majority of our families choose to give birth at home (yes, apartments count!), delivery at a freestanding birth center is also available.  We have privileges at Puget Sound Birth Center in Kirkland and Special Delivery in Arlington. Some benefits of community birth with midwives include:
  • Give birth in a setting that feels calm, safe, and comforting.
  • Continuous presence of supportive, knowledgeable, and nurturing birth attendants.
  • Extensive knowledge regarding non-pharmacological pain relief methods.
  • Nitrous oxide available for birth center deliveries.
  • Waterbirth options in all settings.
  • Delayed cord clamping and immediate skin-to-skin.
  • Your safety is a priority at all times. We carry a variety of medications and safety equipment should the need arise.
  • If transfer to the hospital is needed, the midwife will facilitate this transition and remain with you until you're settled.

"You provided such thorough and compassionate care throughout pregnancy, labor and postpartum. I felt so supported throughout all aspects of my pregnancy, not just with the medical pieces but emotionally adjusting to all the changes as well. Having the opportunity to meet multiple times after birth was truly invaluable as we processed the birth and adjusted to the postpartum period. I wish everyone had the opportunity to receive such great care."

Can I birth with a midwife?
As licensed midwives, we care for low-risk pregnancies... which covers most people! We believe in health in all sizes and ages, and we look at your own individual risk factors.

Is out-of-hospital birth safe?
For low-risk people and babies, yes! Our midwives are extensively trained to:
  • guide people to keep their pregnancies low-risk,
  • recognize problems before they come emergencies,
  • handle emergencies with appropriate equipment and medications, and
  • transfer care (if needed) to trusted hospital providers.
Research continually shows midwifery care in a well-integrated place like Washington to be as safe as birth in the hospital for appropriate clients.

Can I bring my family to visits?
Yes!! We love getting to know your family. We have coloring supplies, toys, and books for your kiddos, and we are happy to incorporate them into your care.

Where do your clients give birth?
Most of our clients birth at home! We also have privileges at Puget Sound Birth Center in Kirkland, and Special Delivery Birth Center in Arlington.

Do you do twins or breech birth?
We do not attend twins or breech. If your baby is breech at term and does not turn with the tools available, we will facilitate a transfer of care for the birth, and resume care for you and baby in the postpartum.

Do you do vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC)?
We are open to VBACs, and will do a deep dive into your medical history to determine whether you are low-risk for community birth. An "ideal" VBAC candidate:
  • has already given birth vaginally,
  • has only had one cesarean birth,
  • had their last baby at least 18 months before your due date,
  • had a low transverse incision that healed well, and
  • can deliver within 20 minutes of a hospital (unfortunately, free-standing birth centers cannot take VBACs, so it needs to be in a home).
Payment options
