Melissa DenmarkFounding Midwife - LM, CPMIn January of 2009, Melissa opened up Snohomish Midwives with the goal of serving birthing people and their families in and around Snohomish County. It has been a growing and thriving part of this community ever since!
Melissa attended Seattle Midwifery School and became licensed in 2004. During this time, she has served the midwifery community in many ways, acting as the secretary on the MAWS board of directors, and more recently, as the Program Coordinator for the Smooth Transitions, a statewide quality improvement project under the Foundation for Health Care Quality. Melissa has defined her career by building bridges between community midwives and hospitals in order to improve the safety and client experience of community birth transfers. Melissa has trained many aspiring midwives, including Siri and Heidi. As she passes on the torch here at Snohomish Midwives, she will always stand as an important pillar for midwifery in our community. When she's not catching babies, she stays active and enjoys gardening, horseback riding, and spending time with her family. Melissa and her husband own and run Raising Cane Ranch, specializing in organic apples, pears, berries, hay, and farm-raised beef and lamb. |
