Doris (she/her) started with Snohomish Midwives in July 2022 as the admin. She is an incredible asset to our admin team and keeps the office organized and running smoothly! Doris enjoys getting to know the families as they come in for their visits and loves hearing the birth stories. She worked in healthcare for over 20 years and is relishing working in a slower paced, patient-centered office. In her spare time, she loves hiking and being outdoors with family and friends. Originally from Alaska, she grew up being outside in all four seasons and loves all the PNW has to offer. In January 2022, she started her own business as a burnout wellness coach. She crafts herbal body oils and teas, some of which are available in the office.
Please say hello next time you are in for a visit! You can also follow along her wellness business adventure at @moonshinewellnesspnw
Student Midwives
Cori Hartunian, she/her Nurse Midwifery Student, University of Washington Hello, Families of Snohomish Midwives; I'm Cori. I will be one of your student midwives through mid June. I am starting the last year of my doctoral program at the University of Washington’s midwifery program. My commitment to this path has been long and fulfilling. I chose to be a doula and a birth assistant to gauge if I wanted to commit to becoming a midwife. And I fell in love! I’ve had the honor of serving our community as a full spectrum doula and birth assistant for over a decade, attending over 500 births. Along the way, I gained my nursing license and worked for a year as a labor and delivery nurse. My passion for health equity and reproductive justice remain foundational, unwavering, and has propelled me to this next step. I humbly stand before you, learning this new role as a provider and know I have so much still to learn. I am honored to share any part your journey. I know how sacred and precious this part of your life is. I bring with me a deep reverence for reproductive health and the power of birth. A little about me personally, I live in Snohomish with my wife, 10 month old kiddo, German Shepherd, 3 cats, and 5 chickens. We love gathering with friends, gardening, reading, kitchen dance parties and exploring the great outdoors! Snohomish Midwives were our midwives too! I couldn’t be more grateful to take these next steps with these amazing humans… and you!!
Jessica Nokes, she/her Midwifery Student, Bastyr University Jessica is a Texas girl adventuring with her family to the Pacific Northwest to become a midwife. With her husband, Josh, who values her passions enough to follow them where they lead, she has six kids, who range in age from 2 - 13, all born with midwives. She felt drawn to birth work following her first birth. After her second was born, I started attending some births as a photographer. These early encounters with a wide variety of births and birth places deepened her appreciation for the importance of compassionate, client-centered care, and the time it takes to build trust. All of this inspired her to become a CPM. Jessica is beginning her second year at Bastyr University and is grateful for the opportunity to learn from such a deeply rooted community of midwives in Washington, particularly those at Snohomish Midwifery. She is obsessed with her family life. They do a lot of Outdoorsing, laughing, reading, and hanging out around the fire pit, making s'mores and keeping people from either falling in or trying to jump over it. She can’t wait to meet you!
